Frequently Asked Questions

Does acupuncture hurt?
Acupuncture is the superficial insertion of thin needles into specific locations on the body. The majority of people have a very relaxing treatment. Occasionally there may be momentary discomfort but that tends to dissipate very quickly.

What can I expect if I’m prescribed Chinese herbs?
Chinese herbs may be prescribed to you if your practitioner sees fit. They are administered as a tea that is usually taken twice daily for a set period of time. The herbs taste earthy and will help expedite your recovery process. They cost about $35-45/week.

How long does it take to see results?
While the progression of treatment for each case will vary, most patients can expect to see some results within 10 visits.

Do you take insurance?
We are currently in-network with BCBS PPO. We also take FSA and HSA cards too. Please upload a copy of your insurance card and driver’s license under the tab that says “Contact and Booking” and “Insurance Uploads”. We will reach out to you once we hear back about what your coverage is including deductible, co-pay, and co-insurance.

***I am no longer in-network with United Healthcare, Cigna or Aetna.

What can I expect an appointment to look like?
Initial appointments include an in-depth review of your health history, a conversation about care going forward, and a 20-30 min acupuncture session with any ancillary techniques that might be indicated. Please expect the first appointment to last 1-1.5 hours. Follow up appointments are usually 45 min-1 hour.
